Questions
Bailey Stone
(8:59) Check out John's IBC Content: https://www.youtube.com/heretorecord
Andre Yanco
(10:25) Q: Yololiv is releasing Yolobox Extreme at IBC2024 right ?
Bailey Stone
(10:46) Yolobox's naming is getting very convoluted...
VideoBuff
(11:05) Q What is difference between YB Ultra and new YB Extreme?
Lee's Boring Life
(14:45) They need to release an updated mini
MattWRuff
(15:14) @Aaron Parecki I think the GoStream Duet is still the better for most things because you don't have to buy a lot of SDI converters - Happy with my Ultra
Bailey Stone
(15:34) Can't the ATEM Mini's do a direct feed of an input source out of the HDMI's?
MattWRuff
(16:33) Q: Follow-up from last week Minimalist stream rig (self contained no Computer) with a Pocket 3 and wireless Mic - Yolobox Mini or ???
Bailey Stone
(17:47) Also is anyone else seeing intermittent buffering? Might just be my internet connection
Gwen Park
(19:08) Q: Doesn't Pocket 3 NOT pass audio via USB? Which would mean you'd need to send audio to Director Mini/YB directly?
Andre Yanco
(19:23) No buffering on my side.
VideoBuff
(19:24) no buffering here
MattWRuff
(19:43) @Aaron Parecki Well I have an Ultra so I know it to help the customer would be easier than using a device I don't have so that what I'm going with...Thanks
Frankie King
(20:10) Suggest you put a 1U vent at the top of the rack. Worked wonder for me on a portable rig.
Gwen Park
(21:28) Oh, just realized I was thinking about DJI MIMO app. I believe Pocket doesn't pass audio to that.
Mthelisi Dlamini
(21:42) Do you think the Director Mini can natively handle a Zoom input? That is being able to include it in future firmware updates and have ISO of each participant.
Bailey Stone
(23:25) I wish I could fly over and spend the week helping out! One of my favourite things is going through and labelling and then reorganising a rack and making it neat and tidy
MattWRuff
(23:38) @Bailey Stone Should work for a datacenter...
Lloyd Loo
(23:53) does the atem constellation 2m/e have 2 downstream keyers on each m/e? or is it a total of 2 downstream keyers for both m/e s?
Lloyd Loo
(28:16) wow thanks for drawing it all out, get it now!!
Sven Lakemeier
(28:31) Not a fan of the "zoom in a box" idea. The moment this is "out of updates"-support the next zoom update might brick it essentially
Mthelisi Dlamini
(28:56) I completely support the idea of a Zoom Box. Something that can output to HDMI or NDI. šš½šš½
VideoBuff
(29:20) Q Aaron, I was trying to find your follow up video where you said you'd go through your bike rig used on the Portland cycle, but could't find it. Can you post a link?
Adam West
(29:49) Q - How does it work with DVE allocation? Is there only 1 DVE with the 1 ME Constellation 4K? And 2 with the 2 ME 4K?
cludford
(31:40) Q I see the Osee Gostream M2 on the desk, how are you using it?
Andre Yanco
(34:55) Q: Arghh the good old Miš¤£cca Speck. Makes me feel all nostalgic
Nils Braune
(36:57) I wonder if Lily is talking about the federal budget or Aaron's studio budget..
Chriss-T Lion
(37:47) Q. can you recommend osee go stream as a good switcher ?
Peter Armstrong
(39:06) Q Is there a difference in quality between different streaming encoders? For bonding reasons I stream GoStream Deck output through OBS, Wirecast or Vmix. Are they as good as Gostream and each other?
Andre Yanco
(40:24) @cludford I beleive only the PYXIS Monitor. No ATEM related stuff
Gwen Park
(40:25) @Chriss-T Lion if you go the Osee switcher route, pay the extra to get the Duet if you can. You get a lot more for $100.
Reon GadgetGuru Smith
(40:53) Atems have a blacklevel issue on both webcam out and the internal encoder @Aaron Parecki ... The guys at Office Hours Global tested this
Kevin McArdle
(41:12) Q - do you think the gostream duet has longevity with its thermals and fw updates?
Kanan St.Rose
(41:48) Q maybe I missed it but did you talk about the new 19-inch rackmount console has 32 LCD keys and two rotary dials that works w/ Companion?
Hans Winzell
(44:27) Q: I found that I sometimes need to mute the audio in HDMI feed to the projector in the venue from my Atem without to mute the audio sent to for example zoom via usb-c. Is there a simple solution?
Hans Winzell
(46:00) Q: I found that I sometimes need to mute the audio in HDMI feed to the projector in the venue from my Atem without to mute the audio sent to for example zoom via usb-c. Is there a simple solution?
Kevin Larat
(46:22) I'm not sure to understand blackmagic's strategy with 2110. Does every ethernet equiped camera will be able to send signal through 2110 and as long as we have a decoder on the other end we are good ?
Scott Jarriel
(49:30) Q: I thought there was a way to edit the XML file on the BMD ATEM's to modify the audio routing.
GAiPS
(49:40) Q: See any cool new tech announced atIBC2024? The Yolobox Extreme is pretty cool, 8 HDMI inputs, 4K streaming.
Mthelisi Dlamini
(50:07) I think it should be a normal thing that gear manufacturers make output ports assignable or configurable instead of just forcing it to program out. We should be able to route.
Andre Yanco
(50:18) Q: What happened to the Rode mystery product?
cludford
(50:31) Q Any new hardware from BMD at IBC? Want to know it there is a new Atem on the way, I wish they had one with at least 1 SDI in, wouldn't want to pull the trigger and then they drop
Michael Flotron
(51:41) Blackmagic Camera on Android is new, right?
Nils Braune
(51:56) @Aaron Parecki You can edit the XML on hardware that supports it already (Constellation 4K).
Chris S
(52:14) q: Hi from Toronto, surprised to not see you at IBC
Bailey Stone
(53:10) @Aaron Parecki any chance you're coming to New South Wales area?
Michael Flotron
(53:39) I feel your travel pain haha. I haven't been home since the week after the boat cruise stream!
Scott Jarriel
(53:51) Q: Just found the reference. Ryan Sommerfield posted a YT video about modifying the SDI audio routing by editing the XML files.
GAiPS
(54:12) Wait, RĆøde is teasing a new product?
VideoBuff
(55:02) Q: For IRL mobile streaming, is using a 4G SIM a waste of time? For eg, Yolobox Ultra has a 4G SIM slot. Is it viable to IRL stream with a single 4G SIM?
Nils Braune
(55:36) @Aaron Parecki That might have been a teaser for their award!
Andre Yanco
(55:38) Q: Nope that is the creators awards
Nils Braune
(56:45) That was announced a few days later.
MattWRuff
(56:56) @Aaron Parecki I had a traveling job for 5 years (pre - 9/11) 2.5 million miles in 5 years Japan twice a year and all over America and Canada
Andre Yanco
(58:44) You need more time and money for the house Aaron :)
Michael Flotron
(58:49) I just got MVP Gold again and Alaska is my backup airline currently š¤£
ART Audio
(59:05) Someone has to stay home to feed the kittens.
Patrick Allmond - StopDoingNothing Media
(59:14) Do you have to be using R0de equipment to enter?
Nils Braune
(1:00:16) I've flown 0 Miles since 1997. Take that.
Michael Flotron
(1:00:21) My Resolve Replay panel arrived! But sadly I'm not home to try it out
Andrew Francis
(1:00:33) Q: With the Micca spek from last week, can you get it to boot into UHD or HD mode by default? I had one of the previous generation - seemed nice but I was stuck at 720p.
Here to Record
(1:02:44) Wow the serial number is quite specific for entry š
Bullhorn1001
(1:02:55) Q: Do you have a recommendation for a media player that could loop PowerPoint presentations? I need something that can run for weeks unattended.
Here to Record
(1:03:51) Thanks for watching. It went great (until it didnāt) and then we got there!
Andrew Francis
(1:04:23) @Bullhorn1001 I would suggest export to PNG sequence then put it into a digital signage player.
ART Audio
(1:05:41) Q: OMG. There have been a ton of mini/micro wireless microphones being released. Any plans to do a side by side anytime soon?
Bullhorn1001
(1:07:57) Q: So would the micca start playing after a power loss... like when the power comes back on?
Aaron Kothe
(1:09:40) I've been testing the new Blackmagic instant replay workflow. So far it's awful. Very disappointing.
Michael Flotron
(1:10:11) @Aaron Kothe Is that with the hardware panel?
Gwen Park
(1:10:37) I feel like a lot of tech (mini mics, video transmitters, etc) is fine for general consumer use, but the little details can make a big difference when you do this sort of stuff for work
Aaron Kothe
(1:11:39) Yep, with the hardware panel. I have to disagree. vMix replay is drastically better and much cheaper.
Aaron Kothe
(1:11:44) I'm hoping to make a video comparing the two.
WutrUduin?
(1:12:08) if that would also auto play video like that when an input signal is lost. it would automatically do what you were trying to make happen with your mini conference setup.
MattWRuff
(1:12:28) @Aaron Parecki Tom Buck did one and so did Curtis Judd (2.4GHz wireless)
Here to Record
(1:12:43) Thanks Bailey - planning to edit out the āartā after dinner so now is the last chance to see it š
kwrigh1
(1:13:00) thanks for addressing 2110....as a Network guy, BM made it seem like all you do it plug it in....and your good. Nope.
Bailey Stone
(1:14:30) @Aaron Parecki speaking of Tom Buck, he just hit 150K Subscribers!!
Michael Flotron
(1:14:39) I think there's a massive pros/cons list comparing vMix Replay and RR. Coming from someone who's used both in production.
Michael Flotron
(1:14:55) Having the footage immediately available on a network drive is huge for me in addition to replay
Bailey Stone
(1:15:07) Tom buck: https://www.youtube.com/tombuck
Bailey Stone
(1:15:09) Curtis Judd: https://www.youtube.com/CurtisJudd
Michael Flotron
(1:15:19) @Bifuteki I've used it myself on track & field broadcasts over summer. Sadly we're off season now.
Kubori Kikiam Show
(1:16:47) Q Is the LiveU Solo (now has a huge discount on B&H) still the best device for IRL streams or is there a better, more affordable option today? Thank you.
Andrew Francis
(1:17:28) @Kubori Kikiam Show LiveU solo has the advantage of ease of use, all the config is sort of handled for you. There are more DIY options like Bellabox.
Robert Gibson
(1:17:43) I can send you ISO footage if you want.
Bifuteki
(1:17:45) I been doing that same thing @Aaron Kothe with twitch live streams since i work mostly in esports
Robert Gibson
(1:17:51) I can send you ISO footage if you want.
MattWRuff
(1:18:41) @Aaron I have some NASCAR footage 4K that I got from FoxSports but sadly all NASCAR footage is copywriter by NASCAR
Robert Gibson
(1:18:58) Just received the hardware panel and it does make the replay system easier to use. The issue I need to figure out with the replay system is the delay between the live and access to the recorded video.
Michael Flotron
(1:19:28) I have literal terabytes of archival ISO footage from track haha
Aaron Kothe
(1:19:36) The fact that Decklink cards aren't supported for Resolve Replay is what really kills it in my opinion.
IT Never Gets Old
(1:20:18) 3D print a new PK1 product... The super ISO file player
Michael Flotron
(1:20:24) Gotta board my flight now though! See ya!
Bullhorn1001
(1:20:32) Q: for IRL would you rather a 5g mobile router or LTE mobile router? I find 5g has really low upload speeds in my end of Canada.
MattWRuff
(1:20:58) @Aaron Parecki what kinda footage you want I'm retired with great equipment (FX3/FX30/FX6)
Aaron Kothe
(1:21:35) 100% sure. Only Ultrastudio Mini 4K. Straight from Blackmagic on their forum. So that's an extra $1,055.
AndrƩ Doelle
(1:22:05) Q: Are you aware of the 24/7 Zoom meeting, by Guy Cochran/ Mimolive, that has 8 sources to iso out?
Bailey Stone
(1:22:16) @Aaron Parecki could you 3D print a little enclosure for it?
MattWRuff
(1:23:24) What do you want 1080 or 4k 24P or 30P
Gwen Park
(1:23:47) Q: do you use a stock footage service? maybe there's a longer sports clip you can download if other options don't work out?
MattWRuff
(1:23:59) @Aaron Parecki Do you want some drone footage? 1080 or 4K? 24P or 30P? Need specs!!
Raul Espinosa
(1:24:29) You can use any political event, debate or town hall
Gwen Park
(1:24:35) Oh, I didn't realize you wanted hour long
AlonzoJT
(1:24:55) They keep calling it Replay but itās a Real Time editor for live mainly. The move to REAL Instant Replay has yet to be done yet.Right now Instan Replay is mainly done with dedicated Vmix machines
Bailey Stone
(1:25:12) @Aaron Parecki what if you used one of the individual keystone panels (like one portion of the panel you have) and make a 3D printed enclosure to support that
Aaron Kothe
(1:25:39) It'll also work with the new Media Player 10G which is only $955 but isn't released yet.
Aaron Kothe
(1:28:50) Just another reason that production folks should not even consider purchasing a production laptop without Thunderbolt going forward.
MattWRuff
(1:28:59) Well it Highschool football season I can get some of that @Aaron Parecki and let it run for hour. Do you need it with timecode?
Kenyon Horsford
(1:29:19) Happy Sunday. I've livestreamed events with GH5 G85, but I want more dynamic shots with smooth zoom. I wonder if there is any good value camcorder or can PTZ's Stack up? My concern is low light.
Kevin Larat
(1:30:05) Zcam just announced a great PTZ actually
Raul Espinosa
(1:30:16) What about the small conference, the setup is now decided?
IT Never Gets Old
(1:33:22) Q: Can the Rodecaster Duo be automated with Companion?
Andre Yanco
(1:33:30) Q: How would you handle the slide output to Zoom on that setup? Screenshare?
MattWRuff
(1:34:02) @Aaron Parecki Last Question what about audio because Highschool football doesn't have much other than people cheering...
Gwen Park
(1:34:33) There are great camcorders and PTZs, but they can be expensive. I use Canon XF605 camocrder (around $4500) and Canon CR-N500 PTZ (around $5000). Great options also from other brands.
Andre Yanco
(1:34:47) Q: that would risk a resolution issue in Zoom. Even with Zoom Business and 1080p, Slides may get washed out a bit I guess.
Aidan Comi
(1:35:12) Q: If you're only sending one feed are you worried about Zoom's compression or does webinar not have that problem?
Andre Yanco
(1:38:03) Q. You will also have fun with the Rodecaster Duo audio go in to the duet. You will need to come out with the headphone out since the normal output will be balanced. Or you need an Art CleanBox Pro.
Bullhorn1001
(1:38:50) Q: wait. you can use a camlink to turn a usb in into an hdmi in?
Raul Espinosa
(1:39:27) No noise in the goStream?
Gwen Park
(1:42:34) The illustration of a long cable. lol
MattWRuff
(1:42:42) @Aaron Parecki That why I like the Yolobox Ultra I can use the USB out (of the Rodecaster) It really clean audio that way
The Only Dishwasher on YouTubeā¢ļø
(1:44:35) Is a mobile Live-streaming fairly new and quite difficult to set-up and achieve a smooth, no-buffing video?
The Only Dishwasher on YouTubeā¢ļø
(1:44:47) I have gone through several different unlimited mobile hotspot plans - AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile. I've tried different hotspot devices and ran out of data and got it with slower speeds.
Michael Flotron
(1:46:30) @Dishwasher navigating mobile data plans is a bachelors degree in and of itself
Nils Braune
(1:46:35) It would be funny if eventually we came to the conclusion that the best device for this is the old ATEM TV Studio HD. ;)
AlonzoJT
(1:46:56) Regarding your live event: do you trust the splitter to work fine both with projector and Camlink? Some just go dark when used connected with devices with different native resolution or color space
The Only Dishwasher on YouTubeā¢ļø
(1:48:01) I now have unlimited, hi-speed data w/ no data caps or throttling. I have a GoPro 13 and a Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro. Do I use the Dual-band 2.5 + 5 Ghz?
Michael Flotron
(1:48:27) @Dishwasher the M6 pro can perform better on some bands if you disable one of the bands. Poke around the admin page and it should explain
IT Never Gets Old
(1:48:31) When dealing with projectors, decimators are your friend
Gwen Park
(1:48:35) For 2 M2s DIY build vs. Duet: think about operating 2 M2s vs 1 Duet of gear at the event. I personally try to minimize how many things I need to operate to minimize heat of the moment mistakes
AlonzoJT
(1:48:53) I always bring scalers with me at any venue.
Michael Flotron
(1:49:10) (Iām back cause weāre delayed for maintenance š¤¦š»āāļø)
The Only Dishwasher on YouTubeā¢ļø
(1:49:18) I ordered a home internet setup, and I put it in my backpack along with a portable battery including an antenna. people said it looks like a bomb in backpack
Aidan Comi
(1:49:36) @The Only Dishwasher on YouTubeā¢ Could be your carrier is counting it as Hotspot data and not regular data.
The Only Dishwasher on YouTubeā¢ļø
(1:49:55) What other compact, light mobile hots[ot devices are there on the market?
Aaron Kothe
(1:51:09) I love my MoFi cellular routers. No bonding but every other feature is very robust.
Michael Flotron
(1:51:13) Inseego makes some decent hotspots too but the nighthawk is generally preferred as they all have Ethernet
Bailey Stone
(1:51:25) What about the Constellation 1M/E, that way it's a bit more compact
musti musti
(1:53:01) Hey Aaron, is there a Way to control Audio on my Atem SDI Extreme ISO with Companion? I just started using Companionā¦..
IT Never Gets Old
(1:54:14) In companion land ATEM audio is often referred to under the fairlight designation
Bailey Stone
(1:54:20) @Aaron Parecki theoretically... with the 1M/E, you could add that to the 3D printed enclosure for the splitters, etc.
Michael Flotron
(1:54:26) No that wasnāt me. I got the hollyland one haha
Bullhorn1001
(1:54:47) does anyone make 4x4 decimator like devices? If I'm going to spend $500 for 4 converters anywhere you'd think someone would have made the 4 in 4 out converters
Bailey Stone
(1:55:23) @Aaron Parecki I'm gonna head to bed and get some Z's before school today! Have a good day everyone!
Gwen Park
(1:58:02) continuity camera?
IT Never Gets Old
(1:59:10) Very cool...ZoomISO to de-zoomify for YouTube streaming
Augastin
(2:00:15) Hi I'm from India. l like your videos Your videos are so informative
Nils Braune
(2:00:45) VDO Ninja if you are feeling adventurous.
TauJi- ą¤¤ą¤¾ą¤ą¤ą„
(2:01:24) Q: lets do an intercontinental stream. Weāll all join from diff countries
Scott Jarriel
(2:01:40) Remember to give Aaron a thumbs up before you leave!
