Sven Lakemeier
(5:03) Good evening from a high speed train somewhere in Germany
jonty2020
(5:11) watching live from the UK too!
Delmixedit
(5:15) Streaming with a phone
Peter Gillespie
(5:26) Q did you finish emptying your boxes or have you left Lily to finish them?
IT Never Gets Old
(5:52) Where are you staying in London (what part of the city)?
Michael Fair
(6:03) we did an outdoor service today and had to go to plan b because my Insta360link would not recognize š
Delmixedit
(6:16) Phone connected to Yolobox
WutrUduin?
(6:19) It's a Yolobox mini plugged into an ATEM Mini Pro plugged into a phone for internet.
Sven Lakemeier
(8:04) wifi holds up at the moment
Sven Lakemeier
(8:35) wrote it and it cut out...
Eric Likness
(8:43) This HAS got to be the least amount of gear you carried for a remote stream.
Eric Likness
(9:42) Now we have to place bets on 1.) When OBS will have issues 2.) How long OBS will have issues. With any luk no issues.
Peter Gillespie
(9:56) Genuinely impressed. I suppose this shows how simple you can keep it.
Sven Lakemeier
(10:09) i meant the train wifi :)
IT Never Gets Old
(10:16) Q: How are you interfacing the mic to the macbook?
Eric Likness
(11:21) Built-in Mic is more than adequate, more treble for sure.
MT Steuerung
(11:27) Sounds great
WutrUduin?
(11:32) Louder, deeper, but there's something slightly annoying about it.
Sven Lakemeier
(11:57) is it the built in mic of iPhone or MacBook?
Zach Schwartz
(12:24) Any a/v sync issues? Did you have to compensate in OBS?
Graham Rule
(13:31) Audio dropped in your side by side scene
Jon Schwark
(14:11) oh the double audio you can hear... its about 1 frame 1/30th different
Jon Schwark
(14:18) This scene must not have the audio built
MT Steuerung
(14:25) The DJI sounds a bit muffly / Canny .. MacBook sounds better ..
Robert Linkroum
(14:40) Q ⢠Which MacBook Pro(s) Have The Better Mic Array...?
Eric Likness
(15:03) Majickly in sync šŖ
Delmixedit
(15:42) Apple fairy dust
Trusted Tackle Tips
(15:45) I agree with MT. DJI sounds muffled to me also.
David Grishko
(15:51) DJI is dampened/muffled
Eric Likness
(15:53) @MT Steuerung I agree, DJI is "dampened" muffled as you say.
David Grishko
(15:55) I like the macbook, better range
WutrUduin?
(16:17) Without the comparison, both sound good. They're different tonaly and the macbook picks up more room reverb. I wouldn't say either is better.
IT Never Gets Old
(16:29) Ah the joys of software based streaming
Eric Likness
(19:41) Studio light looks fantastic.
smitthone
(19:48) blurring compromising objiects in the background
Frankie King
(21:28) Think audio went out of sync when the fx were applied
WutrUduin?
(22:42) Yeah. I was gonna say you look processed.
Eric Likness
(22:47) The overhead is a geometric transform from the built-in webcam on the Mac?
IT Never Gets Old
(23:51) Q: How much CPU is being utilized on the Macbook? You are using an M2 Air, right?
Eric Likness
(26:18) 10% cpu? Sweet. MBA with M2, that sounds like my next Switcher š¤
WutrUduin?
(26:34) Q Not an issue so don't change anything, the macbook audio picks up all the touchpad clicks. I wonder if the DJI does too or to a lesser degree.
David Grishko
(26:51) recording uses the same encoder as the stream. it will not use extra cpu unless you set it to encode differentlty
Sergio The One
(27:11) Q: Are you streaming in 720 to save bandwidth or CPU?
Peter Mount
(28:11) you are 720 from what I can see
IT Never Gets Old
(28:33) Q: Are you using Shoot on the Iphone or is it the Apple Camera app?
WutrUduin?
(29:15) Not too bad though. I've got the video taking up about 80% of a 4k monitor.
Eric Likness
(29:19) Let me just say 720P may be minimum viable stream, but it looks great on my 30" TV right now. Don't worry. It works!
David Grishko
(29:25) In OBS, are you using x264 or the apple h264 encorder?
David Grishko
(30:23) If you didn't change, then the default is probably x264 (it is on windows).
Rossi
(30:38) iPhone camera appears as if it is livestreaming in 4K on my 85" TV
MT Steuerung
(30:59) 720p looks really good .. I don't think 1080p make a big difference
David Grishko
(31:12) If you switch it to apple, you will use almost no cpu at all
WutrUduin?
(32:11) Now that you mention it. I do notice the text.
Eric Likness
(32:23) Buffering, it WILL come back, and it DID come back.
Jon Schwark
(32:42) ok now try to hot swap the resolution
Eric Likness
(33:58) Resolution change, why not ā
ProCopy
(34:01) I'm seeing dropped frames now
Eric Likness
(34:11) It's back!
Peter Mount
(34:12) it's back and 1080p š
David Grishko
(34:13) It's working
Graham Rule
(34:14) 1080p is now on my options
David Grishko
(34:27) and there is 1080 now
Zach Schwartz
(34:29) Yes 1080p now
David Grishko
(34:53) I don't see any dropped frame.
Eric Likness
(35:09) Folks! @Aaron Parecki just DID The thing everyone is afraid, and won't do in OBS during a LIVE eventāš
WutrUduin?
(35:16) And it auto-switched to 1080. YT usually doesn't go up automatically.
Jon Schwark
(35:27) oh yeah cant scroll back
David Grishko
(35:29) Youtube used to not allow resolution and bitrate changes. Now they do with variable bitrate/resolution.
IT Never Gets Old
(36:27) Q: Obviously that would break if you had auto-start and auto-stop turned on
ProCopy
(37:10) I was able to scroll back if I refreshed window
David Grishko
(37:16) After the stream is done, after a few hours post processing, it will become available.
Graham Rule
(37:22) I've got a second window open and can see the first half of the stream - complete with 1080p in the options
Sven Lakemeier
(37:32) update from the train: going 295 kph and mobile data is stable
Jon Schwark
(37:39) now switch to vertical
Graham Rule
(37:57) I just realised that @Aaron Parecki is missing from his own map!
Nick Houlton
(38:13) "... in next week's show Aaron juggles with chainsaws" š
David Grishko
(38:19) I don't understand when streamers don't use scheduled streams. It some hiccup occurs with the stream now, sometimes you can end of with two seperate streams instead of one continuous VOD.
Jules Apatini
(39:08) Q, If this works this well with two cameras list some reasons you would use the Yolobox at all if OBS is so powerful and easy to take on a trip?
Jules Apatini
(40:17) Q, If this works this well with two cameras list some reasons you would use the Yolobox at all if OBS is so powerful and easy to take on a trip?
Sergio The One
(42:46) I've seen streamers before use clunky streaming backpacks and this iPhone setup looks way better.
MT Steuerung
(43:46) The MacBook Cam isn't that sharp than the iPhone Cam ..
Sven Lakemeier
(43:54) for constant use of the webcam I would suggest propping the MacBook up so the cam is at a better angle
Eric Likness
(44:53) 100/100 on WiFi is definitely not something you would get at a random location.
Michael Flotron
(44:58) And the yolobox has magic network abilities haha
MT Steuerung
(45:07) Q - dosn't the iPad has a Cam?? would it work like the iPhone ??
IT Never Gets Old
(45:54) Q: Many of the DVE style effects in OBS will chew additional CPU and instability does ensue
Sergio The One
(46:27) Continuity Camera, I think.
WutrUduin?
(46:34) Woah. Audio was slightly better when you picked it up. Might be your voice bouncing off the desk adding that tone I hear.
Michael Flotron
(46:43) Iāve never seen my iPads pop up as cameras like I have with my phoneā¦
Michael Flotron
(46:47) Including newest iPad Air
Dansplaining Video
(46:58) Q which iPhone do you have? I donāt see the Desk view option in the Video Effects
Frankie King
(47:26) You could also bring in a remote contributor?
Nick Houlton
(47:43) I'm interested to understand how much battery drain the iphone is using and if it will manage without a power supply?
Dansplaining Video
(49:43) Mine also only has one lens
Graham Rule
(51:03) Lots of keyclick sound
WutrUduin?
(51:25) For the few of you that may not know: A battery bank in a power outage will last longer keeping your phone at full instead of charging it up multiple times.
Sven Lakemeier
(52:14) Why?
Eric Likness
(52:23) There are too many iphones šyup!
IT Never Gets Old
(52:36) Q: In some cases with volunteers they forget to stop the stream, so I have used auto-stop in those cases
Rossi
(53:33) The audio is muddy now !
David Grishko
(53:54) I like the 15% to 85% range.
Alex Hardy
(54:06) Q what are you in London for š
IT Never Gets Old
(54:09) Q: What are you doing in London? Teaching?
Jon Schwark
(55:12) Yeah that is much better
David Grishko
(55:14) Oh that's much better holding it.
Sergio The One
(55:21) That's so much better. I think the mic was pressed against your shirt
MT Steuerung
(55:31) Q - how will it sound if you lay the DJI net to the Phone ??
Graham Rule
(55:44) Tech conference with jet-lag - sounda likw fun
David Grishko
(56:11) too far
Jon Schwark
(56:12) very low
Let Your Nerd Be Heard
(56:16) very distant
WutrUduin?
(56:21) Sounds like you're across the room.
Graham Rule
(56:24) too quiet - need mic closer
Frankie King
(58:33) Great stream , reminder to all to click like.
MT Steuerung
(58:38) Q - .. and is there a option to use the Phone Mic??
Michael Flotron
(1:00:38) Audio mixer only shows whatās in your Program, not Preview
Michael Flotron
(1:01:10) Itās confusing but thatās how it works lol
Michael Flotron
(1:01:27) You have to uncheck view inactive sources in the advanced mixer if you want to adjust in Preview
David Grishko
(1:01:59) It's probably the mic setting at the macOS level?
Michael Flotron
(1:03:05) It doesnāt change the Audio Mixer, but you can still adjust in the Advanced mixer. Not intuitive, I know
David Grishko
(1:03:14) It's roomier.
Michael Flotron
(1:03:16) It definitely changed haha
Eric Likness
(1:03:18) Sounds like something changed,
Michael Flotron
(1:03:24) MacBook mic is better. Iphone seems way more processed
Graham Rule
(1:03:53) Laptop mic sounds better than the phone
David Grishko
(1:03:55) I like the macbook mic better. The iPhone mic sounds more distant.
IT Never Gets Old
(1:04:09) Q: The combination of the general purpose computer settings (i.e. MacOS) plus the OBS settings make trouble-shooting so much more complex than dedicated devices like ATEM or Yolobox
WutrUduin?
(1:04:32) I must be weird. iPhone sounded better to me.
Alexander Sims
(1:04:47) Quick Question - Can all mirrorless cameras be used with a switcher like the Atem Mini? Looking at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 in specific because I need a camera <$200 USD to stream with. Thanks!
Michael Flotron
(1:07:18) The iPhone sounded like a phone call haha which I suppose makes sense? Haha
Sven Lakemeier
(1:07:22) I would say iPhone is less processed. MacBook mic must have a filter removing the reverb of the room
Jon Schwark
(1:07:28) Ok I agree, Iphone was bettter
Jon Schwark
(1:07:30) im on good headphones
Graham Rule
(1:07:38) If you have a TV in the room can you cast to that as a an external multiview?
Mike Stevens
(1:07:53) Atem mini hdmi input one can cause problemsā¦. Low latency and not all cameras like input port one.
Jon Schwark
(1:08:24) I think we all agree the DJI on the chest was the worst.
Sven Lakemeier
(1:08:40) jon: no, Dji on the mirror was worst
Richard Louis-Pierre
(1:08:51) Itās working well enough. Youāre getting a few reflections from the room.
Alexander Sims
(1:08:59) thanks for answering my question! Just got to it
Alexander Sims
(1:09:08) 1.5x speed catching up
Burt Groenheim
(1:09:10) Q: I currently have a stream that I went live with and even though I ended the stream, it still says that Iām live. How do I shut it down.
Mike Stevens
(1:09:56) Laptop mic is best sound, but keyboard clicks are heard ;-)
Burt Groenheim
(1:10:12) Q:using switcher studio
Frankie King
(1:10:59) Did I notice in audio settings in obs, the lap top mic doesnāt have the hi pass filter on ?
WutrUduin?
(1:11:17) Or a box to put the laptop on. It sounded better when you picked it up. No resonance from the table.
Michael Flotron
(1:11:39) Fun fact: TSA doesnāt like laptop stands lol
IT Never Gets Old
(1:11:56) Q: I think there may be quite a difference on the DJI with an external mic versus the built-in capsule mic
Gerhard Kostrewa
(1:12:07) Put the DJI-Mic deeper on your shirt and it will work better.
Graham Rule
(1:12:19) I once found that a volunteer hadn't stopped the stream in the ATEM - there was 5 hours of a holding slide and no audio
Chris S
(1:12:40) Q: Did you bring your drone?
Graham Rule
(1:14:16) Probably can't fly over people if they are wearing crowns
Robert Gibson
(1:14:24) Do you know the reason for not going over the river?
WutrUduin?
(1:15:24) 50% better sitting on the battery. Get something 4x thicker would likely do the trick.
Michael Flotron
(1:15:35) Really Aaron shouldāve just travelled with a full audio interface and Shure SM7B smh /s haha
Mike Stevens
(1:15:47) Make sure you are not near an airport!
Eric Likness
(1:15:58) Seeing how OBS is performing on the MBA, well worthy sacrificing the YoloLiv for the drone.
smitthone
(1:16:07) well, in EU (not know in the UK) you need licence, insurance and check in the app if you are in a restricted/forbidden zone
Vinyl Vinnie
(1:16:29) i heard a lot of drones suffer from hydrofopia. Thats could be the reason
Hardy Media
(1:16:49) Q Noticed that for a long time you've referred 1-1 consulting requests to others, but now you offer? How's it going?
Michael Flotron
(1:17:25) The stand I have has hollow pipes (not sure how better to describe) and I think thatās what they donāt like.
Alan MacPherson
(1:17:34) Lavs work better a bit lower, away from the chin shadow
Sven Lakemeier
(1:18:46) I prefer the sound of the dji because the builtin mic picks up handling noise. better a little muffled sound to the handling distraction
Eric Likness
(1:19:11) It all worked, and it's still working even after all the death (stream death) defying feats of OBS framesize and encoder changes ā¼
Graham Rule
(1:19:45) Hopefully this will buy you a pint - even at London prices
Graham Rule
(1:19:50) Hopefully this will buy you a pint - even at London prices
