Questions

@markdonnery
(5:51) Good morning from Vancouver. Anyone else heading to NAB. I’m trying to find out how one gets involved in the meetups. Also are the sessions worth attending or just the floor venders

@ClearLifeLive
(7:12) We are going to NAB again. We have our broadcast trailer will be near BH photo/Sony. So you can come and walk through it

@markdonnery
(7:25) Q. Are you going to NAB. How does one get involved in some of the after parties / meetups?

@TheVisualante22
(8:53) Q: Zoom which one for Live Streaming

@markdonnery
(10:59) Well i am i. For Saturday night would love to know where and when

@jbrooks12
(11:11) Q: is zoom iso still Mac only?

@TheVisualante22
(11:30) So WOrkplace plus 125 did i get that right?

@TheVisualante22
(12:08) The Apple OS so much better that is why

@TheVisualante22
(14:56) Problem is Android

@adamwest4981
(15:28) Android works fine. It's the hardware.

@GrishGPT
(15:48) Not sure if some of the yokobox instabilities come because it was based on android

@phandastudios
(16:05) Q: Have you tested the ATEM Extreme ISO G2? There is a weird behaviour where the HDMI out 2 and 3 Mirror each other under fps lower than 50fps instead of being individual assignable

@svenlakemeier
(16:48) Surprise, an embedded OS written for one use case needs less resources than a full mobile OS

@GwenPark
(17:11) Q: Great job on Office Hours the other day. Any thoughts to share about it post show?

@AirportStreams
(19:53) 9 said Yes, Aaron said No

@GrishGPT
(20:10) It was very glitchy as a viewer. I think the down detector spike was the viewers reporting it

@GwenPark
(20:18) We saw some frozen frames, lagging video, no audio, etc. while it was happening.

@GrishGPT
(20:26) At one point during the glitches they switched to you and you were standing there silent and confused

@TheVisualante22
(20:46) Why do you think it crashed. My Guess not enough Ban Width

@TheVisualante22
(21:30) Does Zoom work as Pier to Pier or server

@nilsbraune
(21:40) @aaronpk That crash had more repercussions, it seems. Audio was crackly and they seemed to have some sort of auto-unmute that didn't work properly anymore.

@GwenPark
(22:20) Folks on the panel said that Zoom was having issues all day

@nilsbraune
(22:31) @aaronpk Does your CD player (?!) have a Companion integration? ^^

@adamwest4981
(23:26) Q: Does your CD player run Android?

@andreyanco3199
(23:34) Q:Trekkie timeee :)

@GrishGPT
(23:39) What would be an alternative to zoom to not have your eggs all in one basket?

@TheVisualante22
(23:51) How do you join Members Only?

@MichaelFlotron
(24:07) How retro haha. Reminds me of using MiniDiscs in theatre

@TheVisualante22
(24:29)

@andreyanco3199
(24:34) Q:Trivia services will be provided :)

@GwenPark
(24:46) OMG, I haven't burned a CD for like 15 years

@Graham_Rule
(26:34) I have had some home-burned CDs degrate. The rewriteable ones have been very unreliable.

@omur_ozcan
(27:14) First, they made us abandon records and switch to cassettes. Then came CDs, then DVDs. Then they offered MP3s as the highest quality music. Now they've put records and record players back on sale

@K0ala20
(27:30) Are we starting an android vs apple fight? I'm team android:_atemmini:

@TechnoBuz
(27:47) @TechnoBuz gifted 10 Aaron Parecki memberships

@andreyanco3199
(28:03) Q:I actually have a lot of DVDs that I need to somehow rip.

@andreyanco3199
(28:08) Q:400+ movies to be exact :)

@TheVisualante22
(28:30) No fight

@TheVisualante22
(28:32) Just judging

@svenlakemeier
(28:33) No one abandoned records for cassettes

@pete-fraser
(28:37) Most of my personal burned cds didn’t last. They started clicking and were so annoying.

@MichaelFlotron
(29:00) My truck running android automotive is one of the most frustrating things ever lol

@omur_ozcan
(29:11) Luckily, I didn't throw away my record player. My son is now busy collecting records. I think CD will back soon.

@nilsbraune
(34:12) I think 4mm headphone jack is audiophile-adjacent.

@adamwest4981
(34:15) I think this is the first ever affiliate link for a CD player in the history of the internet

@TheVisualante22
(34:27) Q: Have you ever used Sweetwater for Audio way better then B&H

@K0ala20
(34:50) 4k Blueray DVD burners are making a comeback in Japan an the US for the pc building community. People are tired of not owning stuff anymore

@GwenPark
(35:21) I've heard some of Gen Alpha likes CDs b/c they're retro

@GrishGPT
(35:28) Don’t forget the laser diode actually burns out in cd and dvd players/writers

@MichaelFlotron
(35:38) Next up: CD Player manufacturer sponsor

@GwenPark
(36:14) @MichaelFlotron Now I kinda want to hear Aaron do an ad read for a CD player

@K0ala20
(38:06) I was a member of the Columbia Warehouse music CD club lol. age showing lol

@GwenPark
(38:09) @K0ala20 I was a member of Columbia cassette club 🧓

@GrishGPT
(39:02) What would be an alternative to zoom to not have your eggs all in one basket?

@TheVisualante22
(41:33) Sykpe worst then Zoom

@GrishGPT
(41:49) Problem with vdo is if you have too many guests and it’s peer to peer instead of sfu, the bandwidth requirements are exponential

@GwenPark
(42:23) One issue with not Zoom is that non technical guests can get confused by a different interface

@4beni
(42:52) Q: is there an option in zoom were the teacher can see all the students but the students cannot see each other

@GwenPark
(43:48) I wonder if Facetime would work as a backup? Obviously not ideal, but it's another interface non tech folks probably understand

@MikeNun-u3r
(44:12) You can do that with zoom iso

@CraigNewman-j1y
(44:29) In Zoom, could you put every student in an individual room, which the teacher can address en masse?

@nilsbraune
(45:17) So it's not all P2P.

@nilsbraune
(45:21) Steve just asks not to abuse it.

@GwenPark
(45:47) Facetime on Extended display fullscreen on Mac -> Ultrastudio/Decklink -> switcher; speaker set to Ultrastudio?

@MikeNun-u3r
(46:12) I believe in iso you can pick (then spotlight/pin) which participant you want to show

@omur_ozcan
(46:31) Q: I will stream an event to Zoom and YouTube. A speaker will join via Zoom. I need to avoid resending the video from Zoom to back. I can solve with 2nd laptop. Should I use the Atem Extreme or RCV?

@DansplainingVideo
(47:15) You can self-host do.ninf]ja, or even host it on github

@omur_ozcan
(49:05) I have RCP2 and I can connect via USB-C to RCV. I think this is better

@BowlsPromoTV
(50:04) Nifty how you zoom in on a webpage

@K0ala20
(52:08) Q: How do you use your pc as an input in your atem mini pro. do you have to use OBS or do you use a separate screen where you want the feed to show? i.e: I want to show what I am doing on the PC

@mattwruff
(55:09) No power so I can’t stay cell is overtaxed but the gas fireplace is keeping us warm and the DJI Power 1000 will drive the microwave!!

@TheVisualante22
(55:23) Q: I got my Rodecater s and My Gosteam SDI with My Edirol 4 input ANalog Rca and S video how do i get it AJA boxes conveting to 1080 how do i get to youtube?

@TheVisualante22
(56:01) BTW AJA boxes way better then black Magic they have been around since the 1990s Grass Valley California. Super Expensive though. We called black magic Black Tragic back in the day.

@TheVisualante22
(56:13) Q: I got my Rodecater s and My Gosteam SDI with My Edirol 4 input ANalog Rca and S video how do i get it AJA boxes conveting to 1080 how do i get to youtube?

@MikeNun-u3r
(57:11) I got to go as well. Have fun, time to go snowblow the neighbors out.

@lucian.popescu
(57:17) Q: What furniture piece did you find to make a rack out of it? that is genius 🙂

@svenlakemeier
(58:52) Oh wait, you're still cooking your devices in the desk racks? I somehow thought you changed that a year ago or so

@mattwruff
(59:16) I ordered a starlink mini but sadly it dot here yet.

@WutrUduin
(59:28) Q How much of that air escapes out of the back?

@TheVisualante22
(59:47) What would you Do?

@TheVisualante22
(1:02:00) Q: does the Rodecaster s Take all wireless mikes? I already have wireless?

@K0ala20
(1:02:32) Q: Does it get hot in the studio?

@GwenPark
(1:06:51) One reason I like Ecamm is that you can similarly set mics per scene. Really useful for small shows w/o a dedicated sound person. Probably you can do simliar with OBS?

@GwenPark
(1:07:36) @nilsbraune I haven't used OBS for a show since pre pandemic, but I do remember audio was a pain in the ass.

@raulhespinosa
(1:08:33) Q: Have you tried the Roland aerocaster?

@Graham_Rule
(1:09:45) I'm going to have to re-learn OBS because a local club with a tiny budget wants me to show them how to record their lectures.

@itnevergetsold
(1:10:24) Q: Do you use the ZoomOSC with the Zoom Companion module? I have been beating my head against the wall getting companion on the pi to talk to a Mac

@Graham_Rule
(1:10:41) About £100 total!

@ClearLifeLive
(1:11:03) Rip sling studio. It was awesome in our first studio

@keithbennett5179
(1:11:16) Q:? Just joined. Did you see the Yolo box Extrem update that allows camera setting control of the S7 and S3?

@akmatron
(1:11:26) Q: How did you connect the overhead camera and how did you illuminate the desk so that there are no bright spots from the lighting?

@Graham_Rule
(1:14:15) They have an old PC. I expect to buy a capture card, a webcam, and some cables.

@akmatron
(1:14:30) Q: What is the focal length of the lens above the desk?

@GwenPark
(1:15:50) I like to think of avoiding reflections like a biliards bank shot that you want to miss (cue = light, bank = reflective surface, hole = lens)

@K0ala20
(1:16:05) Q: I have a black screen on my atem mini pro when I select my pc. atem connected usb to pc. PC hdmi to hdmi 1 on atrm mini pro, set to 1080/60 . it shows on the SEETEC 15 inch monitor though.

@Graham_Rule
(1:17:38) They have an old PC. I expect to buy a capture card, a webcam, and some cables.

@Graham_Rule
(1:17:56) @GwenPark That is my concern. But I'll just have the webcam and capture (of the slides) and one mic. They don't expect anything fancy.

@Graham_Rule
(1:18:22) @AirportStreams The slides and audio are more important than the view of the lecturer. I know one organisation that copes with a wide view from the back of the room!

@pete-fraser
(1:18:36) USB webcam wouldn’t need a capture card

@WutrUduin
(1:19:30) A USB webcam good enough to capture the room is more than $100 itself

@pete-fraser
(1:19:53) iPhone running rode capture over NDI into obs should work?

@GENESIS3979CEO
(1:20:15) Q: Is a 2019 MacPro Tower used for editing good to do streaming in 2026?

@itnevergetsold
(1:22:08) The advantage of the MacPro Tower would be to put cool cards like a declink into it

@Graham_Rule
(1:22:31) The webcam will still be better than the just the speaker's laptop camera

@MrG734
(1:22:42) I have one of the old HD studio atem, how can I use with my atem pro iso?

@GwenPark
(1:27:28) everytime you say "iPod", my brain wants to autocorrect to "iPad"

@GwenPark
(1:27:38) back when BMD had HDMI + SDI in one device

@Graham_Rule
(1:27:49) Is that mount for the ATEM also Vintage?

@BowlsPromoTV
(1:27:54) Almost a neat line of participants from New Zealand to Norway

@andreyanco3199
(1:28:07) Q:Actually Google corrects searches for IPOD to IPAD :)

@svenlakemeier
(1:29:23) Nostalgia is interesting. some devices are held in high regard, a lot of stuff is just forgotten and the look back shows only a small window of the reality back then

@itnevergetsold
(1:29:31) Newton Messagepad baby!

@GwenPark
(1:29:34) Someone will probably get nostalgia for ATEM Mini in X years

@svenlakemeier
(1:31:32) same with the nostalgia for decades I lived through. the 90ies resurgence looks a lot different to how I remember the 90ies.

@K0ala20
(1:31:41) Q: the hdmi splitter you mentioned, do I split from the hdmi 1(pc) to pc, or from pc in to hdmi 1. (1 to 2 connect in or out direction)

@svenlakemeier
(1:32:21) iPods are already back in style, refurbished ones sell for huge amounts of money

@andreyanco3199
(1:32:27) Q:91 minutes check :)

@BowlsPromoTV
(1:32:48) Am I vintage using a Sony Handicam into my DM.. does have 100 times zoom

@aidancomi
(1:33:12) Q: I know you've mentioned it before, but what do you use for Home Assistant power monitoring?

@Sharif_FUNCOLOGY
(1:37:52) Has anyone tried the Guest Invite feature in the new YOLO Extreme firmware? It seems a bit unstable, possibly due to the third-party service used by YOLO.

@BowlsPromoTV
(1:38:22) Q: I did ask earlier if you’ve seen the new Tiny 3?

@aidancomi
(1:39:10) I've been happy with my August/Yale locks with the Home Assistant Yale bluetooth integration, but it has compromises

@WutrUduin
(1:41:47) Ah. Like hotel rooms.

@circuitbaker
(1:43:47) CISA makes good electrically actuated locks that can be used with any access system

@svenlakemeier
(1:43:52) That's how doors work in Germany. Outside needs a key as it has a fixed knob, inside just opens like a internal door with a handle.

@juhanivaihkonenunderwater
(1:44:11) After I watched lockpickinglawyer videos from smartlocks, I know I'm not getting them :)

@AirportStreams
(1:44:16) Aaron have you tried Lockly

@GwenPark
(1:45:11) Maybe it's time for PK1 Lock? lol

@WutrUduin
(1:45:22) On my home front door there is contact sensor. You have to turn the deadbolt to get out, but once the door closes Smartthings tells the deadbolt to lock.

@AirportStreams
(1:45:36) I use lockly and so far has what you want
